BACKGROUND
Tiv as an ethnic nationality in West Africa, they constitute approximately 3.5% of Nigeria's total population, and number over 6 million people spread across Nigeria. The Tivs are the 4th largest ethnic group in Nigeria.
Tiv language is spoken by about 7 million people in Nigeria. The Tiv speaking people are predominantly found in Benue State, North Central, Nigeria. The language is also widely spoken in other Nigerian States of Plateau, Taraba, Nasarawa, cross rivers as well as the FCT, Abuja. It is part of the Southern Bantoid Tivoid family, a branch of Benue-Congo and ultimately of the Niger-Congo phylum. They depend largely on agriculture as means of livelihood.
RATIONALE
Generally, Benue people are hard working people with great visions and goals in life.
It is on that note that, a lot of them have left the state to other high commercialized states to make a living such as: ABUJA, LAGOS, KANO, PORT-HIGHCOURT etc
Our findings reveal that, our people leave in search of better job opportunities in other states and countries.
It is also true that, what most of them need to establish themselves and continue to develop our state and nation is a little support.
In most cases, these industrious people look up to those whom God has blessed and are in positions to render assistance.
The support could come in form of gaining admission, job acquisition, granting of loan facilities, as well as other empowerment initiatives, to mention a few.
ABOUT US
TIV YOUTH NETWORK is a socio- political umbrella open to all Tiv youth resident in Nigeria and Diaspora. It is designed to promote developmental predispositions among the Tiv youth, as well as between them and other nationalities.
VISION
To create a network of Tiv youth committed to the shared values of peace, unity, and understanding as foundations for socio-economic emancipation.
MISSION
To promote good citizenship, leadership, patriotism, peace and development in our land.

DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS
After a long time of thorough research, we have come to realize that, the ordinary Tiv man believes in whoever that affects his life positively, that to him is a fellow and deserves his unalloyed support. Therefore, we the TYN are committed to embarking on such youthful projects like; Admissions, job placements, Visas, IT students, just to mention but a few.
To reach a milestone we need to have one voice but for this to happen, people’s lives most be affected for the leadership of the forum to have a say that the members might follow.
